The downtown shopping district every first-time visitor ends up in, usually within a day of landing. Myeongdong's pedestrian streets pack in K-beauty megastores, department stores and mid-range fashion at a density found nowhere else in the city, with street carts taking over the main strip as the sun goes down: grilled lobster, giant crepes, tornado potato, all torched and stacked for the phone camera. It's dense, neon-lit and unapologetically commercial, but that's the draw: nowhere else can you go from skincare haul to street food to a quiet moment at Myeongdong Cathedral in the same ten-minute walk.
